I can see why this book is getting so many 5 star ratings....it is simply gripping!

The story to me read like a movie in my head and it was so easy to read and to identify with the characters. From their early years as local tough kids to their eventual success as adults, two friends, an accountant and the other doctor are drawn to their past via an old friend who convinces them to become partners in a business venture.......and that is when this book gripped me!

Enter the mob....and now we have a tale of two men, forced to deal with a situation that threatens not only them but their families.

I read this book in two days, though I thought it would take me longer, i simply could not put it down, so determined was I to get to the end and find out how this well written book would end...and the ending....well, what an ending.

If the writer of this novel has not yet sought out a screenwriter then he should - this is a movie waiting to be made!

I will give this novel 3 stars on the basis that the author stayed true to the story line and the book held my attention. Character development was quite extensive and at times too overdone. The author often uses multiple paragraphs to help us get inside the mind of the characters and I found myself saying, "Enough already, lets get on with the story." Another difficulty I had was the, in my opinion, over use of the F-bomb and other expletives. Perhaps this was true to character for most of the players in the story, but it seemed overdone to me. The ending has a twist to it, but it was easy to see it coming. All-in-all, the novel was entertaining and had a strong plot.
Excellent novel. There is so much suspense that Mad Dog House is impossible to put down once you're into the novel.. The detail is spectacular and since the author is a psychiatrist, you get a detailed portrait of all the people involved in the story. Highly recommended.
It took me a while to get to this book but I will not forget it any time soon. Mark Rubinstein is an author I will be looking for when I want to read an action packed book with tons of twists and scenarios that are not expected through out the entire book. I was on pins and needles with this story, afraid of finding out that Roddy and Danny might have messed up big time. I was so engrossed in the plot that I felt I was one of the characters participating in the tangle of their lives.
I am willing to say that you will not be left lost and unsatisfied with this plot.
Thank you Mark for being an incredible author! I just hope there is another book or two to follow. Do not get me wrong this is a great stand alone book.

The answer would seem to be no. This is a gripping tale. Once it takes off you can hear the clock ticking in your head as the characters race towards a conclusion that you know is coming, don't want to watch, but can't stop looking. At times it's as if you're in a nightmare, running at full speed, in slow motion. Then the s*** hits the fan, and the gray matter flies. Good book. Read it.
First off, I liked this book and will read the next in the series. The characters are well written and likable. I feel queasy because this is a situation that could befall just about anyone. I just read the synopsis to the second book and I will probably not read it right away. I might need a fluff book to calm myself down before getting wrapped up in Roddy's life again. This was a quick read and, again, pretty suspenseful. Usually I read books involving the supernatural and, even tho they are thrillers, this book is much more so because it was so realistic. Scary!
This was a well written book that grabbed my interest from the beginning and kept it until the end. Great character development, plenty of twists, and very believable circumstances the main character finds himself caught up in. Our past in never truly our past and can surface at any time. It is part of who we are. This story reminds us of that. My only negative on this story was the dialogue at times between the main character and his wife. It just seemed a bit off to me (for lack of a better word) but that could be more me than anything else. The other dialogue that takes place between characters is well written and fitting for the circumstances Roddy finds himself in. I definitely hit a point in this book where I could not put it down and was not disappointed in where the author took me.

I would highly recommend this book to others and am looking forward to Mr. Rubinstein’s follow up to this story!
I enjoyed this thriller. The characters are interesting and likeable ( and unlikeable, when necessary ) and it reads like the kind of thriller I grew up with and have learned to enjoy from the 40's and 50's, except that it is set in the present day. The story gets tense and follows a formula at first, but it has enough turns and twists to keep your heart pumping and reading further. I like 'Mad Dog' and I think he's a great character because he is badass but he is also happily married, nice to see now and then in fiction. We are left with a great little pinnacle to start with in the next story, and I am looking forward to reading Mad Dog Justice next.
